Tuapse Port, Russia – Port Exposure Report

This report provides information about the ongoing situation at Tuapse Port, using various available sources to ensure the accuracy and continuity of tracking of marine assets.

The map below plots all vessels waiting at anchor or travelling to or from the port of Tuapse, using the AIS transponders broadcast, on June 07th, 2022.

Ships have reportedly encountered GPS interference, and/or AIS spoofing in the vicinity of Novorossiysk, and an Advisory 2022-004 from the US Maritime Administration (MARAD) has indicated that vessels may encounter GPS interference, AIS spoofing, and/or other communications jamming when navigating in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

On June 07th, 2022 there were 38 ships in the port of Tuapse, including the outer port limits waiting area, of which 19 are blue water: 10 Tanker ships, three General Cargo ships, five Bulk carriers and one RORO carrier. The full detailed list of these ships is provided in Table 1 below.

The estimated market value of the 19 blue water ships is modelled by Skytek’s REACT platform to $119,94M.

10 merchant ships are moored in the port and eight merchant ships waiting at anchor for a free operating berth.

Skytek was able to map the seaborne traffic near the port of Tuapse port on June 07th, 2022, as shown in Figure 2, using the latest satellite image tasked and acquired over the area:
